Lady Lake is a town in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 13,926 at the 2010 census. As of 2019, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 16,020. On February 2, 2007, the town was devastated by an EF3 tornado, killing eight residents. Lady Lake is located at 28°5545N 81°5551W (28.929165, 81.930888). The town has a total area of 6.8 square miles (18 km²), of which 6.6 sq miles (17 km²) is land and 0.1sq miles (0.26 km²)" is water" The town operates the Lady Lake Community Building, which may be used for public events. The town is part of the OrlandoKissimmeeSanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Area history is exhibited at the Lady lake Historical Society Museum, which is located in the town's public library. The town was devastated by an EF3 tornado on February 2, 2007, killing eight residents. It is located on the U.S.-Mexico border. The U.N. World Meteorological Agency has declared Lady Lake a World Heritage Site. It has been named after Lady Lake, a 19th-century woman who lived in the town for more than a century. She died in the tornado in 2007, leaving behind a husband and three children. The Town has a population of 1,816. It was the site of a World War II-era naval base, which was destroyed in the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. It also was the location of the Battle of the Bulge, which took place in December 1944. The US Army Corps of Engineers has a base at Lady Lake and the US Army National Guard has a station at the town. The United States Geological Survey has designated Lady Lake as a National Weather Service site. The area is home to the Lady Lake National Wildlife Refuge, which is part of the National Park System. The National Park Service has also designated the town as a World Wildlife Fund site.
